From chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) to suicides, what we’ve learned about the potential effects of concussions goes beyond alarming. It’s a must-address call to:
• Learn everything you can.
• Share that with your coaches, parents and athletes.
• Provide extensive training.
• Institute measures to prevent and treat head traumas.
A concussion occurs when a brain is shaken by external forces. These could be blows to the head or to another part of the body, with the force transmitted to the head. Repetitive brain traumas can lead to CTE.
