Why Giving Tuesday Is the Perfect Moment to Power Your School’s Fundraiser
December 1, 2025Featuring Eventlink® Intern and Purdue Women’s Basketball Player Taylor Feldman
On February 4th, we celebrate the resilience and determination of female athletes around the world for the 39th Annual National Girls & Women in Sports Day. From high school gyms to Olympic podiums, female athletes are breaking barriers and redefining what’s possible.
Lessons Beyond the Game
Sports build confidence, leadership, and lifelong skills that go far beyond the game. Purdue Women’s Basketball player, Taylor Feldman, says, “Basketball has shaped the way I approach life beyond the court. It’s taught me discipline, accountability, and how to manage my time under pressure. Being a female student-athlete forces me to balance priorities, show up even on hard days, and work toward long-term goals. Those lessons carry over into school, relationships, and preparing for life after sports.”
Playing for the Fun
Sports provide so many valuable life skills to female athletes. In addition to those skills, sports also bring female athletes joy, passion, and a sense of thrill. When that pressure is high, Taylor says, “What brings me joy is trusting my preparation and leaning on my teammates. Competing alongside people who have put in the same work and believe in one another makes the game even more fun and rewarding.”
Advice for Young Athletes
National Girls & Women in Sports Day is a reminder that every girl deserves the chance to play, compete, and thrive. Let’s continue to champion equal opportunities, amplify women’s achievements, and inspire the next generation of female athletes. “My advice is to believe in yourself before anyone else does. There will be moments when you feel overlooked or doubt your abilities, but consistency and confidence matter more than perfection. Don’t be afraid to fail, because sometimes failure is the best way to learn,” Feldman says as a piece of guidance to the next generation of female athletes.
